Fort Worth, TX – Senior citizens need to be on the alert for a telephone scam that is targeting grandparents nationally. The caller pretending to be the person’s grandchild tries to create a sense of emergency by claiming to have had an accident or been arrested and asks the grandparents to wire money for bail or to pay damages. Individuals have lost as much as $15,000 to the scheme. Consumers should protect themselves by not getting caught up in the emergency nature of the call and be sure that they verify the identity of the caller before making a response
